The Department of Health Economics is responsible for mapping out the development plans for its academic subjects and the major in International Economy and Trade, for organizing and managing all teaching levels and curricula, and for monitoring teaching quality. Talent recruitment plans are drafted, and schedules for advanced studies and academic visits of the faculty are reviewed and approved. Other responsibilities include building teaching sites and laboratories for the majors offered by the Department and making arrangements for teaching practice and internship programs of the students. The faculty of the Department is encouraged to pursue a second degree and take part in all kinds of trainings, educational programs and social services.

The majors offered by the Department combine the general qualities of each subject with the characteristics of the medicine and health undertakings and provide unique curriculum and talent development. Its graduates are applauded by employers for being well-grounded in theories, and showing good all-around qualities and strong practical skills. The annual average employment rate of the graduates from the Department stays above 98%. The Department of Health Economics has shaped some featured scientific research fields and made some achievements in health economy, service trade and medicine prices, by combining scientific research with teaching and social services closely. While making the most of the teaching bases of the School, it has developed a variety of internship sites/bases and teaching bases well suited to its majors. More than 20 teaching and practice camps have been established. Some senior management members with hands-on experience in pharmaceuticals trade and health management have been engaged as part-time faculty members. E-commerce laboratory, insurance laboratory, economics & management general-purpose laboratory, and case discussion room have been built. Meanwhile, teaching software relating to international trade practices, international settlement, e-commerce, business letters, marketing, insurance practices, and accounting have been bought to provide experiments and hands-on trainings.

Shu Yan is the Chairperson, Tian Zhenming is the Associate Chairperson and Liu Huahui is the Secretary of the Department.
