The School of Public Health and Management, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine has remained true to an educational philosophy characterized by “Diligence, Innovation, Harmony and Development” and a cultural tradition which says “A benevolent person loves others and the highest goodness is like water”, since its inception more than twenty years ago. Guided by a human- centered and multi-disciplinary coordinated development approach, the School has constantly advanced the academic majors and programs it has to offer.
The School currently offers four undergraduate programs, namely, Health Service and Management, Public Affairs Administration, International Economy and Trade, and Applied Psychology, two master's degree programs, Social Medicine and Health Service Management, and Psychology of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and two doctor’s degree programs, Management of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Psychology of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Among them, Applied Psychology and Public Affairs Administration are two provincial first-class majors and provincial featured major development sites.
There are 52 full-time faculty members and 12 part-time members. 37 of them (including part-time members) have senior professional titles, 26 have obtained doctorates, one is rated as New Century Excellent Talents (NCET) by the Ministry of Education, and two are honored as Xinglin Young Scholars. A total of 1,290 students are at the School currently. The final employment rate of graduates from almost every program always nudged 100% over these years. Some 25% of our graduates were admitted into the graduate schools of top universities in China and other countries, or hired by leading Chinese and foreign companies every year. Our students delivered stunning performance in national and provincial "Challenge Cup" College Students' Extracurricular Academic and Scientific Works Contest, China and Guangdong Mathematical Contest in Modeling, and College Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program, among other competitions and events. The School is equipped with a wide range of state-of-the-art laboratories for teaching purpose, namely, marketing sand table simulation laboratory, economics & management general-purpose laboratory, health management decision theatre laboratory, health insurance laboratory, art and psycho therapy laboratory, sandplay therapy laboratory, electrophysiology laboratory, high-speed eye movement laboratory, and mental health education development and practice base for college students.
The School boasts one experimental teaching exemplar center and two hands-on teaching camps for college students of Guangdong Province. Hands-on teaching is always given top priority. The School endeavors to play a positive role in serving the society and foster sound public relations with other sectors of the society. Diversified strategic alliances with all kinds of organizations offering internship programs for the purpose of talent development, scientific research and staff training have been formed in a collaborative and innovative way. 60-plus internship sites and teaching hospitals have been established at health administrations, food and drug administrations, public hospitals and state-owned pharmaceutical enterprises, junior colleges and polytechnic schools, elementary and secondary schools, and prisons across the province.
In recent years, the School has been actively driving cooperation and communication on scientific research with top universities in Europe and the United States, like University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the USA, York University, Canada, and Swansea University ,the UK.
