Guangdong Research Center for TCM Service and Industrial Development is a social science research base established in 2018 with the consent of the Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine and the approval of the Guangdong Federation of Social Sciences. In response to the national TCM development strategy, and to inherit and develop TCM services and TCM sectors, implement the spirit of the Guidelines of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on Promoting the Inheritance, Innovation and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine, advance “Healthy China 2030”, give full play to the role of Guangdong TCM in serving, supporting and leading major national strategic initiatives such as the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the “Belt and Road Initiative”, as well as the unique role of TCM in the public health service system, strengthen the brand effect of Guangdong TCM, and carry out research on the management of TCM services and TCM sectors, Guangdong Research Center for TCM Service and Industrial Development plans to establish 2022 research projects. Tender matters are hereby notified as follows:
I. Project Application Guide
(I) The tender for 2022 research projects is divided into two categories: key projects and general projects. According to the evaluation results, excellent projects will be approved. The research period of key projects is one year in principle, and that of general projects is one year, commencing on the signing date of the contract. Key projects should focus on the construction of “Epidemic Prevention and Emergency Management” as a high-level key discipline in Guangdong Province, the construction of TCM highland in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the important role of TCM in the public health service system. The tender guide only refers to the research direction of projects, and applicants can draft their own project names according to the general direction.

II. Project Applicants
The tender for 2022 research projects is open to researchers from universities and research institutes in Guangzhou. Candidates for key projects should have a doctor’s degree or a deputy senior title or above. The project leader must be a real participant in the implementation of the project and perform substantive tasks in the project research. Teachers who have obtained the project funding from the Guangzhou Key Research Base of TCM History and Culture and are in the process of research are not allowed to submit an application again to our research center.
III. Application Procedures
(I) The applicant shall fill out the attached Application for Research Project of Social Science Research Base of Guangdong Research Center for TCM Service and Industrial Development. The application shall be printed on both sides of A4 paper and bound on the left side in 6 copies with the common seal of the project leader’s organization, and shall be sent to the School of Public Health and Management, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine before March 14, 2022 (subject to postmark); late submissions will not be accepted. The electronic version of the Application shall be sent to Teacher Yuan Zhang’s email address (yzgzy@gzucm.edu.cn) at the same time.
(II) The research center will invite experts to form a panel to evaluate all applications. The evaluation results will be officially published after review and publicity. The research center and the successful bidder will sign an Agreement on the Entrustment for Research Project of Social Science Research Base of Guangdong Research Center for TCM Service and Industrial Development to clarify the relevant rights and obligations of each party.
IV. Project Conclusion Requirements
(I) The project shall be completed on time. In case of special circumstances, the project can be extended after the application of the project leader and the approval of the research center. Such extension shall not exceed 1/2 of the original period.
(II) The results of the project shall be in the form of survey reports, academic monographs, academic papers or decision-making advisory reports.
1. Result requirements: Survey reports shall be no less than 20,000 Chinese characters and shall be adopted by the superior department (proof of adoption shall be provided); monographs and academic papers shall be published openly.
2. The conclusion of key projects shall meet one of the following conditions:
(1) It is encouraged to publish one academic paper in the Science Citation Index (SCI), or Social Science Citation Index (SSCI), or Engineering Index (EI), or Arts and Humanities Citation Index (A&HCI) journals;
(2) Publish one paper in Chinese core journals (Overview of Chinese Core Journals, compiled by the Peking University Library and the Journal Work Society of Beijing University Libraries), or Chinese Social Science Citation Index (CSSCI) (sponsored by the China Social Science Research and Evaluation Center, Nanjing University), or Academic Research (Chinese core journal) of the Provincial Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences, or two papers in science & technology statistics source journals (science & technology core journals);
(3) One decision-making advisory report (published by the Southern Think Tank Newspaper and approved by provincial and municipal leaders, commissioned and adopted by provincial and municipal government departments), one landmark results (may be the same);
(4) One academic monograph.
3. The general project requires at least one paper to be published in science & technology statistics source journals (science & technology core journals) or one paper to be published in Academic Research (Chinese core journal) of the Provincial Federation of Humanities and Social Sciences. Complete the final report at the same time.
4. The results of the research projects funded by the research center shall belong to the center. When any paper, research result or monograph is published, the research center shall be listed as the first author, i.e. “广东省中医药服务与产业发展研究中心” in Chinese, and “Guangdong Research Center for TCM Service and Industrial Development” in English; the fund support is marked with “广东省中医药服务与产业发展研究中心项目(课题编号)” in Chinese, and “Supported by Guangdong Research Center for TCM Services and Industrial Development(No)” in English.
5. Projects with landmark results will be automatically rolled into the next year’s project funding.
V. Research Funding and Use
The research center will provide financial support for the winning projects. There are three key projects, each funded with RMB 20,000 Yuan; and 10 general projects, each funded with RMB 5,000 Yuan. The use of funds shall conform to the measures of the State and the Guangdong Province for the administration of funding for social science research projects. The scope of use is limited to project related matters (such as material costs, expert consulting fees, labor costs, conference travel expenses, paper layout fees, etc.), and use for purchase of equipment is not allowed. The project funds are used for exclusive purposes, and overruns will not be replenished (in accordance with the budget and financial management regulations, the reimbursement shall be submitted to the Finance Office of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine with the invoice payable to Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine).
